[personal profile] carabas
Hello! Thank you for writing for me and for sharing one of these fandoms!

I'm DeCarabas on AO3 and carabas on tumblr. All my prompts are completely optional; I would love any story with these characters, so anything I write here is just to give you a starting point if you need it. Please don't feel you need to cram everything I mention into your fic - I'm just tossing out lots of things I like and hoping you'll find something you like too. So if you already have an idea but it doesn't match any of my prompts, fantastic, go with that idea. What I want most is just to see someone else's take on these characters. I love these fandoms and can't wait to see what you do.

I'm easy to please. I like gen and shippy fic equally. I like fluffy and lighthearted fics, bittersweet fic, dark and twisted fics, and everything in between. I like everything from G-rated gen to explicit PWP, plot-filled dramas or trope-filled romance or worldbuilding or introspective character studies, longfic or shortfic - and I'd like any of the above for any of these fandoms. Whatever style of fic you like to write, I like to read it.

Some things I particularly like: Slice of life. Established relationships. Road trips. Crossovers with history or mythology or fairy tales. Folklore references. Monsters and demons. Magic and magical mishaps. Telepathic connection. Dream sequences. Altered states. Immortality. Reincarnation. Identity porn. Loyalty. Competency. Possessiveness. Threesomes, particularly someone falling in love with an established couple, or an established couple seducing someone new. Woke up married. Sharing a bed. Huddling for warmth.

Some kinks I particularly like: Voyeurism and exhibitionism. Mirrors. Blindfolding as an expression of trust. Body worship. Nonpenetrative sex. Knife play. Blood kink. Bite marks. Xeno. Voice kink. Praise kink. Creative uses of magic.

Some things I'd rather not get: Non-con. (But dub-con is fine.)

If you're completely stuck on whatever fandom we matched on and want to try picking up another, most of my fandoms can be picked up fairly quickly - my Norse mythology request is focused on just one poem; Bell, Book and Candle is a movie; Painted Skin is a series of two fantasy movies; and Neumeier's Little Mermaid is a ballet that's available on video.

Bell, Book and Candle
Characters: Gillian "Gil" Holroyd

I love the style of this movie, all the fun of the witches at the beginning particularly. I'd love to see a version where Gil's able to keep her magic in the end, or any kind of winter holiday story with the witches.

I would absolutely love an alternate version of this movie where falling in love doesn't mean she has to give up her powers, her cat, her fashion sense, and her whole lifestyle. Handwave that however you like. Maybe it's the other way around, maybe Shep's the one who becomes magic instead. Or maybe it's both - maybe losing her powers isn't permanent after all but some kind of test, maybe the witch has to spend a while in a human's shoes and vice versa before they can really understand each other, maybe Pyewacket arranges the whole thing. Or maybe it's not Shep she was in love with at all, maybe it's Merle instead, and that makes some kind of difference - anything! However you do it, I'd just love a story that lets Gil have both love and magic at the same time.

Alternatively, I love this as a Christmas movie and I'd love a fic that focuses on the holiday theme - in which case the story doesn't even have to be focused on Gil, feel free to focus on any of the other witches if you like; I'd just love some more of seeing these witches celebrating the holidays in their own unique style.

The Little Mermaid - Neumeier
Characters: The Poet | Hans Christian Andersen, The Little Mermaid | His Creation

I loved the character of the Poet and the sort of meta interaction he has with his creation - both the mermaid herself and the world she inhabits. I would love to see that relationship in more depth, maybe adding a deleted scene or expanding on a scene from the show.

My favorite part of this show was watching the Poet with his creation, the way he guides her through the story almost against his will, considering all the pain that he puts her through. I love the way he often seems powerless to change the course of the story even though he's the one creating it, and I love the way the mermaid often ignores his attempts to hold her back. I love the way he moves through the story, sometimes interacting with it directly, sometimes just an observer, and I love the joy he took in her beautiful undersea world, like a sanctuary from his problems in the real world - only for his problems in the real world to immediately play out all over again inside his story. I love the way the mermaid is simultaneously his mirror image while also being her own separate person.

I ship it as a kind of selfcest, and I'd be just as happy with a gen version of their relationship, and I'd also be happy to see either/both of them shipped with the Prince or Edvard, provided it doesn't change the ending of the ballet.

Alternatively, I wouldn't mind seeing a focus less on the Poet's relationship with the mermaid specifically and more on how he relates to the world of the story as a whole - the way he uses it as an escape, and the way he seems to have only limited control over it. Or maybe something like a more historical RPF angle, where the events of the ballet are explicitly something going on in his imagination, and how he views the real world with all this going on in his head.

Norse Religion & Lore
Characters: Iðunn

I would love to see something about Idunn's role in Hrafnagaldur Óðins. Give the story an ending! Or a modern retelling! What's your interpretation of what's going on here - is this her first time meeting Bragi, or is it the last days before Ragnarok? Anything goes.

(English translations of Hrafnagaldur Óðins available here and here and here. Also, if you've got an idea that's got nothing to do with this particular poem at all, that's great too, I will love absolutely anything Idunn-related, feel free to ignore everything I write here, or feel free to take any of my general likes as prompts for Idunn specifically.)

There's so much to love about this poem! Idunn wearing the skin of a wolf! Idunn who "changed her nature, played with mischief, changed her shape"! Being questioned by the gods like an oracle! And I love the kenning about the river Gjoll to refer to her as a woman of the underworld - the mental image of light shining on the river of the dead like the gold of a woman's jewelry.

There are so many different ways to interpret what's going on here, and I want to see any/all of them. Is this about how Idunn first joined the Aesir, and was her descent part of the failing power of the dwarves at the beginning, her father's peopleOr was it a solo trip to the underworld, is she already with the Aesir at this point, and maybe those feelings of foreboding at the beginning were about Baldr's dream, maybe she deliberately entered the underworld to try to interpret them? Or is this somehow related to her kidnappingOr something else entirely? However you interpret this story, I want to see it.

Show me Idunn as a werewolf, or descending into the underworld like Persephone or Inanna, or meeting Hel - Idunn/Hel? - or the beginnings of the romance of Idunn and Bragi, or something meta or experimental about stories with multiple versions and multiple interpretations, or bring it into the modern age - absolutely anything.

Painted Skin (Movies)
Characters: Peirong, Princess Jing, Xiaowei

I'd love to see a story playing with Jing's resemblance to Peirong, and I'd be equally happy with femslash or gen. Maybe something like a reincarnation AU, or simply Xiaowei being reminded of Peirong when she sees Jing. Alternatively, I'd love a story set in one of the moments when two of them have traded roles in some fashion - when Peirong is seen as a demon or when Jing and Xiaowei have swapped skins.

You don't have to use all three of my requested characters for this fandom. Feel free to pick any two of them, if that works better for your story. I ship everyone with everyone here. Jing/Xiaowei, Peirong/Xiaowei, I don't know how you could make Peirong/Jing work but if you can then I would be thrilled, I like all the canon ships too, and I'd be equally thrilled with gen.

What I love most is the way these stories play with identity, the way the characters get stuck in each other's roles - the most striking image in the movies for me is when Peirong is run out of her home as a 'demon' while Xiaowei watches. So I would love any story that plays with trading roles. How does Jing feel when she's watching 'herself'? Maybe an AU where Xiowei and Jing stay in each other's skins for a little longer?

And the resemblance of the characters in the sequel to the characters in the first movie! I'd love to see some moment where Jing reminds Xiaowei of Peirong. Or a reincarnation AU where Jing finds Xiaowei familiar - or maybe they meet for a third time, or maybe the first movie wasn't the first time they met? A soulmate AU? Or Jing as Peirong's descendant, or anything else playing with their resemblance. Or anything else that strikes your interest - I'd love to see any fic about these movies.
